High Performance Wideband Driver Amplifiers Ranging from 2 to 9 GHz with High Gain and High Linearity

Custom MMIC has added two new packaged driver amplifiers to their expanding product offerings, the CMD232C3 and the CMD231C3.

2-9 GHz Driver Amplifier with 15 dB of Gain
The newly released CMD232C3 GaAs MMIC driver amplifier functions from to 2-9 GHz and delivers over 15 dB of temperature stable gain with an output 1 dB compression point of 17 dBm, and an output IP3 of 23 dBm. With this device’s high linearity in a compact 3×3 mm package, these amplifiers serve for military, space and communications systems. Custom MMIC eases the design process, requiring only a single 5 volt positive supply and supply current of only 90mA. The CMD232C3 is a 50 ohm matched design to eliminate the need for external DC blocks and RF port matching. The amplifier is a replacement for the Celeritek CMM-2, now in packaged form.

2-6 GHz Driver Amplifier with Low Current Consumption
Offering wideband performance with a low current consumption, the CMD231C3 leverages GaAs MMIC technology to deliver over 14.5 dB of temperature stable gain and have a supply current of only 45mA. These amplifiers required only a single 3 to 8 volt positive supply, thus simplifying the design process. It is offered in a 3×3 mm leadless surface mount package. Output 1 dB compression point is +13.5 dBm, with an output IP3 of 23.5 dBm. The CMD231C3 is a 50 ohm matched design which eliminates the need for external DC blocks and RF port matching. The amplifier is a replacement for the Celeritek CMM-9, now in packaged form. It is ideally suited for military, space, and communications systems where small die size and high linearity are necessary.

Qorvo® Offers Maximum Upstream Bandwidth with New DOCSIS 3.1-ready Reverse Path Amplifiers

GREENSBORO, NC and HILLSBORO, OR – March 24, 2016 – Qorvo® (Nasdaq: QRVO), a leading provider of core technologies and RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure and defense applications, has added ten new DOCSIS 3.1-ready reverse path amplifiers to its portfolio, enabling cable broadband service providers with the fastest data rate capabilities required for high-bandwidth content uploading.

“Qorvo’s reverse path products equip cable providers with next-generation technology that is ‘future-proof,’ offering faster upstream data rate capability than the standard set forth by the current phase of DOCSIS 3.1,” said Kellie Chong, director, CATV and Broadband Access products for Qorvo. “Now cable operators utilizing fiber to the home (FTTH) and hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) networks can provide higher bandwidth to meet the increasing subscriber demand for upstream and interactive content.”

Qorvo’s new products for HFC and FTTH applications include the RFCA8830 and RFCA1008 reverse path power amplifiers capable of operating up to 300 MHz – well beyond the current return path requirement of 204 MHz. The newly releasedRFCM5304 includes integrated functionality such as power down, adjustable gain control (AGC), configurable current, first stage amplifier bypass, and an on-chip thermal pin to sense IC temperature during operation.

Qorvo’s reverse path amplifiers are available in standard HFC; SOT-115J form factor; miniaturized multi-chip module (MCM); and monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) packages, including QFN and SOIC. These products accelerate the deployment of high-speed CATV DOCSIS 3.1 networks while providing cable designers greater flexibility in product design.

Qorvo offers the most DOCSIS 3.1-ready products, with more than 60 components including pre-driver gain blocks and push-pull and power doubler amplifiers employing the latest high-performance process technologies, including GaN high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT), which delivers superior linearity, output power and reliability. Qorvo’s forward path amplifiers operate from 45 MHz to 1.2 GHz with very high output (capable of 76 dBmV composite power), extremely low distortion (lower than 70 dBc), and excellent input and output return loss (-20 dB typical).

Qorvo will showcase these products and its DOCSIS 3.1 portfolio at the upcoming China Content Broadcasting Network (CCBN) Exhibition in Beijing, China, March 24-26, 2016 at booth 2501.
