Control Your Serial Devices Directly From the Chrome Browser

Tibbo just released two handy boards: Web232 and Web485. These boards work as standard USB-to-RS232 and USB-to-RS485 adaptors, but with WebUSB support.

WebUSB JavaScript API allows web-based applications to access USB devices. WebUSB is supported by the Google Chrome browser and is also included in the Chromium open-source browser builds. If you are using Chrome (or a Chromium-based) browser, your web pages will be able to access an RS232 (or RS485) device connected to your PC through our Web232 or Web485 board.

Tibbo is planning to make extensive use of the WebUSB functionality, and here is the first example: a web-based test application for RS485 Modbus Sensors (Bus Probes). Connect Bus Probes to your PC’s USB port via the Web485 board, and you can configure and test them from our web app!
