Marki Microwave Introduces GaAs MMIC Double Balanced Mixer for mmWave Systems from 18 to 86 GHz

Marki Microwave has introduced the MM1-1886LM, a GaAs MMIC millimeter-wave double-balanced mixer intended for wideband frequency conversion in mmWave systems used across test and measurement, electronic warfare, and fixed RF applications. The MM1-1886LM supports RF and local oscillator (LO) operation from 18 to 86 GHz, with an intermediate frequency (IF) bandwidth extending from DC to 20 GHz. This wide operating range enables frequency translation across multiple mmWave bands using a single mixer architecture.

According to the published specifications, the passive mixer exhibits a typical conversion loss of 8.5 dB across its operating range while maintaining high port-to-port isolation and spurious suppression.

This RoHS-compliant device is designed to operate with a minimum LO drive level of +7 dBm, supporting system designs where available LO power is constrained. The mixer is implemented using a GaAs MMIC process and is specified to handle input power levels of up to 27 dBm at any port. Electrical performance characteristics include LO-to-RF isolation of approximately 50 dB and IF isolation exceeding 35 dB, supporting clean frequency conversion in spectrally dense environments. The device is also specified with an input third-order intercept point (IP3) greater than +13 dBm, supporting linear operation in receiver and transmitter chains.

The MM1-1886LM is specified for operation over a temperature range of -55 to 100°C, targeting applications that require performance stability under demanding environmental conditions. The device is offered in both a connectorized configuration and a wire-bondable MMIC form factor to support different integration approaches.

Marki Microwave has positioned the MM1-1886LM for use in mmWave signal generation and analysis, frequency up- and down-conversion stages, and high-frequency RF system development, where broadband coverage and predictable mixer behavior are required.
