Mini-Circuits Introduces GaAs MMIC Power Amplifier with Ultra-Wide Frequency of 10 MHz to 4.0 GHz

Mini-Circuits, a leader in RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave solutions, has released a new high-performance GaAs MMIC power amplifier  – the PMA3-43-1W+. Operating over an ultra-wide frequency range of 10 MHz to 4.0 GHz, and offering an excellent bandwidth coverage for several applications, it is designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern broadband systems.

The Mini-Circuits‘ PMA3-43-1W+ power amplifier delivers an impressive power output, offers low distortion, and operates in a wide frequency range. It gives a saturated output power (PSAT) of +32.6 dBm, offering reliable high-power performance and a P1dB (output power at 1 dB compression point) of +32.2 dBm, making it ideal for systems requiring high output levels across multiple bandwidths. Its ability to maintain flat gain and consistent power output across this frequency range makes it highly suitable for several broadband applications.

In addition to its power capabilities, the amplifier offers a high gain of 21 dB, ensuring strong signal amplification across the frequency band and an output third-order intercept point (OIP3) of +37 dBm, highlighting its linear performance across the band, minimizing intermodulation distortion, and preserving signal fidelity. With a low noise figure of 3.2 dB, the PMA3-43-1W+ supports applications where maintaining signal fidelity and dynamic range is critical. This combination of high linearity and low noise makes it an excellent choice for both transmit and receive chains in systems that demand superior signal integrity. Operating from a single +12V supply, the amplifier simplifies power management in system designs.

Packaged in a compact 3×3 mm, 12-lead QFN-style surface-mount package, the PMA3-43-1W+ is engineered for high-density PCB layouts, offering low inductance and efficient thermal management. The amplifier is internally matched to 50Ω, which simplifies design and integration. Its robust construction and standardized packaging ensure compatibility with automated high-volume manufacturing processes, making it attractive for commercial and defense OEMs.

The PMA3-43-1W  is designed with flexibility in mind. It can serve as a driver amplifier on the transmit side or be deployed in the receive chain of high dynamic range systems, offering a performance envelope suitable for a diverse range of applications, including:

Mini-Circuits’ PMA3-43-1W+ power amplifier is a robust, high-performance solution for broadband RF applications, having an exceptional balance of output power, linearity, and noise performance, packaged in a small, industry-standard footprint, enabling designers to meet stringent performance targets in compact form factors. The PMA3-43-1W+ offers a powerful and efficient amplifier solution for the RF front end for advanced military systems or cutting-edge wireless infrastructure.
