nRF54L Series Wireless Chipset by Nordic Semiconductor

The nRF54L Series from Nordic Semiconductor are Multiprotocol Wireless System-on-Chips (SoCs). They are designed for Bluetooth devices used in smart homes and industrial applications that require high memory capacity and a high number of GPIOs. These SoCs consist of a 128 MHz ARM Cortex-M33 core with a RISC-V co-processor, 0.5 MB to 2 MB NVM, 96 KB to 512 KB RAM, a 2.4 GHz radio, a 32 MHz crystal, a security block, and serial/peripheral interfaces. They support multiple wireless protocols, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 6.0, Thread, Zigbee, Matter, Amazon Sidewalk, and a proprietary 2.4 GHz protocol. These SoCs deliver a Tx output power of up to +8 dBm and have an Rx sensitivity of -96 dBm. They provide a data rate of 1/2/4 Mbps.

The nRF54L Series SoCs employ several features from Bluetooth LE – LE 2M, LE 1M, LE-coded and channel sounding for accurate range measurement. These wireless SoCs are equipped with multiple security functions, including ARM TrustZone, root of trust, secure boot, key management, and physical protection. They also utilize a side channel leakage protection ensuring additional security. These SoCs can be remotely controlled using serial (I2C, UART, SPI) and EasyDMA/GPIO (up to 66 ports)/14-bit ADC/Global RTC peripheral interfaces. They require a DC supply of 1.7 to 3.6 V and consume less than 10.1 mA of current. These multiprotocol SoCs are available in pin-compatible QFN, CSP or WLCSP packages.
