Remotely deploying IoT devices in the field means confronting a hard truth: cellular coverage eventually runs out. When you are outside the reach of terrestrial towers, your device goes dark. Solving that has traditionally meant proprietary satellite hardware, added cost, and months of extra development. This webinar shows how a hybrid terrestrial and satellite (TN/NTN) solution closes that gap without a separate hardware stack, without antenna characterization work, and without the certification burden that usually comes with satellite connectivity.

Nordic will introduce LooUQ’s MTC2-N9151 pre-certified embedded modem based on Nordic’s nRF9151 compact, low power cellular module with NTN fallback.  The MTC2-N9151 is pre-certified for Skylo’s NTN network and for terrestrial operation, allowing users to easily integrate support Skylo and terrestrial coverage via an M.2 interface. Skylo’s standards-based 3GPP NB-NTN network provides low power coverage ideal for remotely deployed devices.

To show it working in the real world, Nordic will be joined by Remsight, a Montana water-technology startup whose solar-powered HydroProxy sensors monitor irrigation infrastructure across the American West — terrain where cellular has never reliably reached. Remsight’s story illustrates how a small engineering team can add ubiquitous, certified connectivity quickly, without the cost, risk, or RF expertise that building a satellite device from scratch would demand.

You will learn:

  • Why cellular coverage gaps break traditional IoT deployments — and how automatic TN/NTN switching solves it
  • How Nordic’s nRF9151 integrates certified NB-NTN satellite and terrestrial LTE-M/NB-IoT connectivity in a single low-power module
  • How LooUQ’s pre-certified MTC2-N9151 module lets you inherit Skylo certification and integrate connectivity in days, not months
  • How Skylo’s standards-based NB-NTN network extends coverage beyond terrestrial boundaries for industrial, consumer, and other verticals
  • How Remsight brought satellite-connected water monitoring to market as a startup — and what their approach teaches any team building for remote deployment
