Invisible Antennas from Taoglas Bring GNSS, Cellular and Wi-Fi Connectivity to Transparent Surfaces
Taoglas is expanding the possibilities for integrating wireless connectivity into displays, windows, and other transparent surfaces with its Invisible Antenna™ portfolio. Designed for applications using glass, plastic, and other clear materials, these transparent antennas allow GNSS, cellular, and Wi-Fi connectivity to be incorporated without significantly affecting the appearance of the installation. Introduced in 2023, the portfolio includes the TFX125 multi-band GNSS antenna, TFX62 cellular antenna, and TFX257 Wi-Fi antenna, targeting applications ranging from trains, buses, and trucks to public-safety and first-responder vehicles, digital signage, and other connected infrastructure.
Multi-Band GNSS Connectivity with the TFX125
The TFX125 is the multi-band GNSS version of the Taoglas Invisible Antenna, developed to provide positioning connectivity while remaining discreetly integrated into transparent surfaces. It supports location-based services, navigation, and tracking applications where maintaining the appearance of the display or window is important.
The antenna can be incorporated into applications ranging from public transportation to personal vehicles, providing GNSS connectivity without requiring a conventional externally visible antenna installation.
Wideband Cellular Connectivity with the TFX62
The TFX62 brings wideband 5G cellular connectivity to the Invisible Antenna portfolio. It can be installed directly on windows and other transparent surfaces, providing cellular connectivity while remaining largely unnoticed within the application.
This approach enables the antenna to be integrated into windows used in buses, trucks, and personal vehicles, providing an alternative to conventional visible antenna installations where both connectivity and aesthetics are important.
Wi-Fi Connectivity with the TFX257
Designed for Wi-Fi applications, the TFX257 can be integrated directly into displays and other clear surfaces. The antenna provides high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity while maintaining the discreet characteristics of the Invisible Antenna platform.
Taoglas highlights applications including digital signage and connected devices such as parking meters, where conventional antenna placement may be difficult or undesirable. The transparent construction allows Wi-Fi functionality to be incorporated without adding a prominent antenna structure to the equipment.
Transparent Film Enables Discreet Antenna Integration
Unlike conventional translucent antenna solutions, Taoglas Invisible Antennas are manufactured using a transparent film, making them difficult to notice once installed on a clear surface. The antennas have been tested and approved and are currently in volume production.
They also use a straightforward peel-and-stick installation method, allowing the antenna to be mounted directly onto a display or other suitable transparent surface. This enables cellular, GNSS, or Wi-Fi connectivity to be added to applications such as digital signage, parking meters, and windows without requiring a conventional visible antenna.
Expanding Antenna Integration Across Connected Applications
The Invisible Antenna portfolio provides designers with options for incorporating GNSS, cellular, and Wi-Fi connectivity into applications where antenna visibility and installation space are important considerations. By combining transparent construction with direct surface mounting, the technology extends antenna placement possibilities across vehicles, displays, windows, and connected infrastructure.
