Product description
The NORA-W50/W51 series consists of small, stand-alone, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE wireless microcontroller unit (MCU) modules. Built on the TI CC35x1E System-on-Chip, these modules are ideal for users looking to add wireless connectivity to their end products. The series includes different variants to best answer diverse application needs. Both single- and dual-band Wi-Fi are supported, the antenna can be internal or external, and the flash memory is available in two sizes.
Wi-Fi 6 offers improved network efficiency, latency, range, and power consumption compared to earlier Wi-Fi generations. In addition, Bluetooth LE enables direct access from, for example, a smartphone and allows peripheral devices such as sensors or actuators to connect wirelessly.
The modules embed an Arm® Cortex®-M33 MCU, clocked at up to 160 MHz, with 1.1 MB SRAM and up to 8 MB flash memory. With several peripheral interfaces, the modules can operate completely stand-alone, hosting software applications for many different use cases.
The NORA-W50/W51 series includes hardware security features such as secure boot, a trusted execution environment with Arm® TrustZone® processor technology, a hardware security module, encrypted flash, and a protected debug port. Wireless communication can be secured with WPA2/WPA3 authentication, Wi-Fi Enterprise security, TLS encryption, HTTPS, and Bluetooth LE Secure Connections pairing.
NORA-W506 and NORA-W516 come with an internal PCB antenna, providing a low-profile implementation with robust RF performance and extended range. NORA-W501 and NORA-W511 include a pin for connection to an external antenna of choice. The modules are globally certified for operation with the internal antenna or a range of external antennas, reducing integration effort, cost and time to market for customer products to integrate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE connectivity.
The modules address a wide range of applications, including industrial automation, smart buildings and homes, smart city, medical and healthcare devices, telematics, and point-of-sales.
