The ALMA-B2 Series from u-blox are Multiprotocol Standalone Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 6.0 Modules designed for low-latency and low-power applications. They are based on Nordic’s nRF54LM20 series chips and integrate a 128 MHz ARM Cortex-M33 MCU, a 128 MHz RISC-V co-processor, and an Axon NPU. These Bluetooth modules also include a 2 MB NVM, a 512 KB RAM, and the integrated NPU chip is capable of running edge ML applications. They support Thread, Zigbee, Matter, and Nordic’s proprietary 2.4 GHz protocols, enabling flexible wireless connectivity. These modules deliver a PHY data rate of up to 2 Mbps using Bluetooth LE protocol.

The ALMA-B2 Series modules support a variety of Bluetooth features and services , such as Bluetooth long-range (coded PHY), Bluetooth high-speed (LE 2M PHY), Bluetooth GATT, and Bluetooth channel sounding. They utilize Arm TrustZone-M scheme for security, along with secure boot and updates, ensuring reliable firmware development. These multiprotocol modules can be controlled remotely using multiple interfaces, including high-speed USB, UART, I2C, and SPI. They require a DC supply from 1.71 to 3.6 V and consume 4.8 mA (active Tx) & 4 µA (standby) of current. These RoHS-compliant modules are available in packages measuring 10.4 x 11.2 x 1.9 mm and 10.4 x 14.3 x 1.9 mm, with antenna pins. They are ideal for smart city, telematics, asset tracking, indoor location, industrial automation, and medical applications.
