Qorvo Unveils Integrated Wi-Fi 7 Front-End Module Covering the Entire 6 GHz Band

Qorvo has introduced the QPF4609E, a highly integrated front-end module (FEM) for Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) applications operating across the 5.925-7.125 GHz frequency range. Designed to address the growing demand for RF front-end solutions that support wider channel bandwidths, higher throughput, and improved spectral efficiency while maintaining low power consumption and compact form factors, the module supports the entire 6 GHz spectrum allocated for Wi-Fi 7, including all channels in the UNII-5 through UNII-8 bands.

The QPF4609E integrates a 6 GHz power amplifier (PA), a bypassable low-noise amplifier (LNA), a single-pole double-throw (SP2T) switch, an RF coupler, and a logarithmic power detector into a compact 3 × 3 mm package. The integrated design reduces PCB footprint and minimizes the number of external components required in wireless networking equipment.

Optimized for operation from a 5 V supply, the front-end module delivers up to 32 dB of transmit gain and a saturated output power (PSAT) of +32 dBm. It is designed for systems employing digital pre-distortion (DPD) to achieve higher linear output power and improved throughput across wide Wi-Fi 7 channels. The integrated RF coupler provides a sampled RF signal for DPD feedback and transmitter calibration, while the logarithmic power detector enables power monitoring and control functions.

On the receive path, the integrated LNA provides 14.5 dB of gain with a noise figure as low as 1.5 dB, helping improve receiver sensitivity. The module also provides 25-26 dB rejection of 2.4 GHz signals, reducing interference from legacy Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, and other systems operating in the ISM band.

The QPF4609E consumes approximately 1.4 W at +24 dBm output power and 1.9 W at +27 dBm output power, balancing RF performance with power efficiency. The device targets applications including wireless access points, routers, residential gateways, customer-premises equipment (CPE), distributed Wi-Fi systems, and IoT networking platforms.
