Mini-Circuits Introduces High-Power Surface Mount MMIC Attenuators from DC to 60 GHz

Mini-Circuits, a global leader in RF, Microwave, and mmWave components for Aerospace & Defence, Telecommunications, Satellite Communication, and Test & Measurement, has further strengthened its attenuator portfolio with the release of the new BAT family of MMIC fixed attenuators. Fabricated using a highly reliable and repeatable GaAs semiconductor process, these MMIC Surface Mount fixed attenuators are designed to deliver outstanding performance across an ultra-wide frequency range from DC to 60 GHz while maintaining excellent attenuation flatness.

Housed in a miniature 1.5 x 1.5 mm QFN-style package, the BAT family of MMIC fixed attenuators is particularly well-suited for designs where board space and weight are critical considerations, such as portable test equipment, satellite payloads, and next-generation communication systems. Their low return loss minimizes reflections and provides flexibility to integrate seamlessly into wideband signal chains, while the small footprint conserves board space in dense layouts. In addition, the package ensures low inductance, excellent thermal contact with the PCB, and compatibility with industry-standard assembly processes for high-volume manufacturing.

Available off the shelf with attenuation values ranging from 0 to 10 dB in 1 dB increments, as well as 12, 15, 20, and 30 dB, the BAT series of MMIC fixed attenuators gives design engineers a broad range of options. Despite their compact size, they deliver robust power handling of up to 2 W and maintain excellent return loss performance, making them a dependable choice for precision wideband systems. Packaged in an exceptionally compact 1.5 x 1.5 mm QFN footprint, they address the growing demand for solutions that balance wideband functionality with space efficiency.

Models of this series are as follows:

Designed for durability, these fixed attenuators support a wide operating temperature range of -45°C to +105°C and a storage temperature of -65°C to +150°C, ensuring reliable performance even in harsh environments. With excellent power handling, low return loss, and wideband operation, the BAT series is ideally suited for diverse applications including Test & Measurement, Satellite Communications, Radar, Electronic Warfare (EW), Electronic Countermeasure (ECM), Defense Systems, Telecom Infrastructure, and emerging 5G networks.
