nRF7001 Wireless SoC by Nordic Semiconductor

The nRF7001 from Nordic Semiconductor is a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 Companion IC that is designed to integrate Wi-Fi 6 connectivity into a wide variety of applications. It provides a low-power and cost-effective solution for adding the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology to products, allowing them to benefit from high speeds, improved range, and greater reliability offered by the latest Wi-Fi standard. This IC consists of a 2.4 GHz radio with low power consumption for long battery life. It ensures fast and reliable connectivity, and has integrated advanced security features, thereby offering a robust connectivity solution.

This Wi-Fi companion IC supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards, a single spatial stream, and a channel bandwidth of 20 MHz. It also includes a 64-QAM (MCS7) digital modulation scheme and supports BSS coloring and OFDMA schemes in both uplink and downlink. The nRF7001 can co-exist with Bluetooth LE devices and integrates co-existence interfaces for communicating with Bluetooth devices. It is used in conjunction with the nRF Connect SDK, which provides a comprehensive unified development platform with a set of tools and libraries, allowing developers to quickly and easily add Wi-Fi connectivity to their products.

The nRF7001 delivers a data rate of 86 Mbps over the channel bandwidth. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 6 x 6 mm and is ideal for smart homes, battery-operated Wi-Fi products, smart cities, smart agriculture, industrial sensors, wearables, medical, and asset-tracking applications.
