Focusing on the burgeoning market for precise heading in unmanned vehicles and robots, Tallysman® Wireless is introducing the TW5394 (fixed mount … TW5794 surface mount) Smart GNSS Precise Heading Antenna, which supports moving-base RTK precise heading and PPP-RTK high precision location capability via L-Band. The TW5394/5794 combines Tallysman Wireless’ multi-band Accutenna® technology with u-blox’s Zed-F9P GNSS and NEO-D9S L-Band receivers. The integrated L-Band receiver allows operators to deploy an augmented position solution when operating outside of terrestrial communications range by receiving PPP-RTK augmentation directly from the satellite. Deployment of two TW5394/5794 devices as a moving base + rover antenna pair enables a precise heading solution, yielding 0.4º heading accuracy when deployed with a minimum 1-meter baseline. Communication interface options include USB or RS-232 to the host system.

TW5394/5794 employs Tallysman’s eXtended Filtering, which mitigates near-band and out-of-band interference sources such as LTE signals and their harmonics, including the planned Ligado service in North America, enabling operation in the most challenging urban deployments.

The TW5394/5794 builds on Tallysman’s 10+ years of integrating its antenna technology with receiver technology in an easy-to-deploy package that mitigates common GNSS engineering challenges.

Tallysman has developed ROS2® drivers, in conjunction with InDro Robotics (https://indrorobotics.ca), for fast and reliable integration of Tallysman Smart GNSS antennas into robotic applications. These drivers enable integrators to easily utilize Tallysman High Precision Smart GNSS Antennas to provide high-accuracy location information, including latitude, longitude, speed, precise heading, and quality of fix.

Software Development Kits are available to complement the TW5394/5794, the 33-5394SDK-1 (for the TW5394) and the 33-5794SDK-1 (for the TW5794), which bundle a TW5394 or TW5794 antenna respectively (USB versions) with Tallysman’s TruPrecision configuration/evaluation software and 60 days of complimentary u-blox PointPerfect® PPP-RTK augmentation service.
