The MBAL-0104SM from Marki Microwave is a GaAs passive MMIC balun (Balanced to Unbalanced Transformer) that operates from 1 to 4 GHz. It transforms a 50 ohm input in to a 100 ohm Differential output. The balun has an insertion loss of under 2.5 dB, an isolation of 8 dB and common mode rejection of 33 dB. It has been tuned for an optimal amplitude balance of 0 dB and phase balance of 2 degrees and a VSWR of 1.25:1. The balun is available in a 4 mm QFN surface mount package and is best suited for use in balanced amplifiers, clock distribution, and higher order Nyquist sampling in analog to digital converters.
