AWMF-0247 Beamforming IC by Qorvo
The AWMF-0247 from Qorvo is a Ku-band TX/Rx Beamformer IC that operates from 13.75 to 14.50 GHz (Tx) & 10.7 to 12.75 GHz (Rx). It adds TDD half-duplex capability to Qorvo’s beamformer IC portfolio, enabling both transmit and receive in a single device. This capability allows flat-panel SATCOM terminals to use a shared antenna aperture, cutting system size and component count compared to dual-antenna designs. The beamformer supports 4 antenna elements with fixed polarization and combines adjustable PA bias for efficient linear transmit power with low noise figure for improved receive sensitivity. It delivers 10 dBm transmit power per channel with a coherent gain of 27 dB (Tx) and 30 dB (Rx). This Tx/Rx beamformer has 6-bit phase control with an LSB of 5.625° and 6-bit gain control with an LSB of 0.25 dB.
The AWMF-0247 is capable of reporting telemetry and high-accuracy temperature sensing. It requires a DC supply of 1.2 V and is available in an FC-CSP package that measures 3 x 3.8 mm. It is ideal for LEO and NTN terminals.
