Tibbo Technology’s New 1-Wire/Single-Wire Tibbit Enables Cost-Effective, Multipoint Temperature and Humidity Measurement

Tibbo is pleased to announce their new Tibbit #62 featuring two 1-wire/single-wire ports.

Running on just two or three wire connections and supporting long cables, 1-wire digital temperature sensors offer a reliable and cost-effective solution for building automation, precision agriculture, industrial control, and other applications requiring multipoint temperature measurement. Where temperature and humidity sensing are called for, installers can opt for single-wire DHT11 and DHT22 devices.

Tibbit #62 features two identical individually configurable channels. Each channel can accommodate up to sixteen 1-wire sensors or a single DHT11 or DHT22 sensor*.

The Tibbit has a dedicated software-controlled, current-limited, and short circuit-protected output for powering 1-wire and single-wire devices. To allow long cable lengths, both channels of this Tibbit feature strong MOSFET pull-ups.

The new Tibbit #62 is fully supported by a dedicated Tibbo BASIC library, as well as in AppBlocks, o no-code, in-browser, flowchart-based application development system for TPS. AppBlocks automatically generates all the code required to support 1-wire and single-wire devices, including an HTML configuration page for discovering and assigning 1-wire sensors connected to a TPS device. This web interface is an indispensable tool for connecting, removing, and servicing the sensors in the field.

Here is a walkthrough showing the creation of a simple 1-wire/single-wire data acquisition project. It couldn’t be simpler:

* Single-wire devices do not support addressing. Only one such device can be connected to a Tibbit’s channel.
